Q&A

Who are we?

High Sierra Writers is a non-profit organization run by writers, for writers. You can request a copy of our By-Laws by emailing president@highseirrawriters.org.

What do we do?

We have a wide range of services to address the needs of our members.  We offer educational meetings, workshops, and so much more. Some of our activities are free to the public or open to the public for a fee. Members enjoy  a wide range of individual specific services, like our critique groups. Membership is $25 a year. We understand that money is tight in this economy, so we do everything we can to reduce costs to our writers. As a non-profit, all proceeds from dues or fees go towards providing the best benefits for our writers.

Why a writing community?

As writers, we understand that writing can be a lonely, frustrating process. Our community of writers offers support, the opportunity to learn from others’ experiences, and encouragement for us to write our best.

How do we do it?

We listen. Each writer’s experience with High Sierra Writers is different because each writer’s needs are different. Some in our community only come to the educational meetings, some members only participate in critique groups or workshops, most do both. The experience is truly up to the writer.
